The
key to all
of my problems
turned out
to be moving
back to Leicester.
I was asked
to start work
for the company
I’d left
18 months before,
bought a house
and discovered
the dance scene.
Moving also
meant I got
a computer
at home and
access to the
net. I remember
the first weekend
spending nearly
every waking
hour looking
at gay sites
as my brain
finally put
one and one
together and
I finally realised
I was gay.
I chatted to
guys, looked
at porn and
in a matter
of days everything
seemed fine.
I started chatting
to a guy called
Stephen who was going through exactly
what I was - we chatted for weeks
discovering ourselves together.
He arranged to travel down from
Scotland to see me and when we
met for the first time we realised
we didn’t fancy each other
at all.
We drove all the way back to Scotland
and for the first time both he
and I went out on the scene, we
both had our first 1-2-1s that
night and I came back home a happy
man - Valentines Day that year
was very special.
It became obvious to me very quickly
that I couldnít keep my
sexuality a secret, and so I came
out to seven of my friends very
soon afterwards. I told them because
I physically couldnít keep
it a secret. We were standing in
the chillout room at Passion when
I blurted it out. They hugged and
kissed me and said they were so
pleased for me.
Over the weeks that followed I
told nearly everyone I knew - every
time I found it very |
