I'm not a huge fan of making new year resolutions as midnight on one of the biggest party nights of the year isn't a good time to decide to give up drinking or whatever. If i'm going to make a resolution I like them to be more 'this year i'll shed a few pounds' or 'this year i'll give more cash to charity' but for some reason this time round i've committed myself to a hardcore deal with the devil.

Ladies and gentlemen on 3rd January i'm stopping smoking.

At least i've been sensible enough to put it off until the party season is over and I'm returning to work after the festive break. I've already signed myself up to an online Stop-Smoking plan and have dusted off the Paul McKenna Quit Smoking CD I bought last year (still un-used).

Like many smokers this won't have been the first time i've attempted to stop pumping all manner of evil chemicals into my body but hopefully i'll manage to make a go of it this time without killing all my loved ones.
