Over the years I've bought and downloaded hundreds of typefaces ranging from classics like Garamond through to a pile of terrible fonts knocked out by people in their bedrooms and stuck on the net for all to try. I'm not sure which is worse though, the fact that in a mad moment I (rashly) decided to download these font-ensteins in the first place or that 5-10 years later I'm still moving them from Mac to Mac to Mac like some kind of pixelated security blanket.
The arrival of the new iMac has once again seen me installing all my typefaces, running them through FontDoctor to weed out all the damaged ones and then putting the whole lot into Suitcase so I can easily manage them. Of course I could manage them much more easily if I just binned the 80% of them I've never used.
Of course one day I might find a need to use a typeface made out of cannibals or one where the type looks like it was designed on an Etch-a-sketch.
