Being two days after the British tradition that is Bonfire Night you'd imagine that the residents of Leicester would have got bored of lighting the blue touchpaper and letting loose firework after firework after firework by now. Sadly it would seem that the combination of Bonfire Night and the festival of Diwali means that for the seventh night in a row we're being subjected to a constant barrage of very loud bangs and bright flashes from early afternoon until well into the night.
Abs and Fitch, like nearly all four-legged inhabitats of the planet, hate the explosions and make a mad dash back into the house each time one goes off. It's not that I'm adverse to the idea of setting light to some gun powder filled rockets and setting them off skyward; I'm just adverse to having to shout across the room so that I can be heard over the bangs. Sometimes I get an idea of what it must be like to have lived through the Blitz.
